Where I Work: Emily Jenkins/ E. Lockhart, author of Lemonade in Winter: A Book About Two Kids Counting Money
It took me forever to choose the paint color. My old office was a deep, dark pink. I finally picked a color that’s almost the exact shade of the trees outside, but that was unconscious. My favorite thing about my office space is the art. From left to right, top to bottom: An Arthur Rackham print of Jack the Giant Killer, a handwritten note from the characters Duck & Goose (pencil held by by Tad Hills), original art from Toys Go Out by Paul O. Zelinsky, a Zelinsky sketch he gave to me and would probably be shocked that I framed, a Sophie Blackall print from her Etsy shop and original art from Love You When You Whine by Sergio Ruzzier. Also a cardboard apple tree made specially for me by my youngest child. The most essential thing in the picture is the red thermos mug of coffee. The second most essential is the laptop. There’s a couch that’s not in the picture and that’s actually where I usually sit.
